The OKC Thunder should focus on bringing in a new running mate for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in the backcourt for next season

Boasting a record of 20-34 on the year and with just 18 games remaining on the regular-season schedule, it appears as though this final stretch in 2020-21 is all about analyzing what the OKC Thunder currently have at their disposal and deciphering who will be a part of their long-term plans.

Due to the fact that Oklahoma City will be in possession of 34 total draft picks between now and the year 2027 and that they’ll have ample cap space moving forward to be active on the open market, it’s evident that the front office will need to look into cutting down on their current crop of ballers if they wish to make room for future additions in an effort to better equip the team for sustained success.

The next move to make is to try and surround their star player with quality complementary pieces, and this can be achieved via the draft, trade, and free agency.
