The OKC Thunder sign G League guard, Charlie Brown Jr., to a 10-Day contract

Just days after signing former Real Madrid forward, Gabriel Deck, Sam Presti and the OKC Thunder dip their toes back into the free-agent pool to sign 24-year-old guard, Charlie Brown Jr., to a 10-Day contract.

This month alone, Oklahoma City has gone on to sign three different players, two of which to 10-Day deals with the first of which being Justin Robinson and, now, Brown being the second.

Spending three seasons — missed entire sophomore campaign due to a wrist injury — at the collegiate level with Saint Joseph’s University, where he posted averages of 19 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.2 steals on 36 percent shooting from deep during his final year, the guard would go undrafted in 2019 but would end up signing a two-way contract with the Atlanta Hawks.

He’d spend the 2019-20 season coming in and out (mostly in) of the G League, but did end up playing in ten total games at the varsity level. As a whole, in said games with the Hawks, Brown would total 20 points, four boards, two assists, two steals, and two blocks in 40 minutes of action on the hardwood.

As mentioned, the guard spent the majority of his first season in the G League, suiting up for the College Park Skyhawks, Brown would go on to stuff the stat sheet with averages 17.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.6 steals, and 1.3 blocks on 42 percent shooting from the floor.

In 2020-21, he spent the year serving as a starter for the Iowa Wolves, where he’d go on to play 30 minutes a game and put up 12.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.7 steals on 44.7 percent shooting from the floor.

Though it was already evident that this second-half of action for the OKC Thunder was devoted to steering more into the tank, these recent additions is just a reinforcement on the matter.

Rebuilding teams offer ample opportunity for those looking to get a shot in the NBA, and Charlie Brown Jr. will be looking to get his as soon as he’s medically cleared to play.
