OKC Thunder key no.1: The Big Kiwi:

While Zion Williamson is the draw for the Pelicans and Brandon Ingram is the reigning Most Improved player there is another member of the Pelicans OKC fans are dying to see.

It’s a common sentiment in OKC that fans miss Steven Adams! It was a necessary part of the process to trade the veterans to bolster the draft closet. Still, Thunder Nation isn’t quite the same without the Big Kiwi’s presence both on and off the court. I find myself still searching for Adams presser’s just to hear some funny quip from the big man.

For those pining for his candor and humor check out this recent JJ Redick podcast with Adams as the guest.

OKC Thunder key no.2: Will Lu Dort play?

While I was sure his presence in Boston would signify the full commitment to ending the losing streak now that they’ve accomplished that goal will OKC put him back on the injured reserve list?

The NBA injury report doesn’t list him but that doesn’t mean he won’t be ruled out. If Dort does play he’ll likely be tasked with splitting his time on Brandon Ingram or Lonzo Ball.

OKC Thunder key no.3: Focus on the glass and paint:

Rebounding has to be the focus for the OKC Thunder as they lead in the NBA in offensive rebounding and are third overall.

Likewise, New Orleans are beasts in the paint offensively ranking third in second-chance scoring and second for points scored in the paint. Suffice to say Mose Brown and Isaiah Roby will have their work cut out this evening.

The Achilles heel of the Pelicans is their perimeter defense as they rank 28th on opponent 3-point efficiency.
