NBA Comparison No. 1) Luka Doncic

Since entering the league back in the 2018 NBA Draft, the 6-7 Slovenian-born baller, Luka Doncic, has seemingly been the talk of the town.

In year one, he electrified fans, media, and players alike by posting 21.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and six assists per game while going on to win Rookie of the Year in the process.

In year two, he upped his stats to 28.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 8.8 assists while earning his first All-Star selection, guiding his team, the Dallas Mavericks, to their first postseason appearance in four years, and finished fourth in the running for league MVP.

Now, in year three, the man has simply continued his impressive production, earning himself his second-straight All-Star nod and making opposing franchises wish they had a do-it-all talent like him running the show.

Heading into this year’s draft, OKC Thunder top-prospect, Cade Cunningham, is widely viewed as someone with the potential to be such a player.

At 6-8, 220 pounds with a 7-0 wingspan, the 20-year-old possesses the build of a modern-day forward, while his three-level scoring, playmaking abilities, and ball-handling skills could make him a reliable option as a team’s lead operator as well — all attributes that Doncic possesses.

It’s evident that the eye test in regard to viewing Cunningham as an impressive playmaker — especially in the pick-and-roll — with high-end court vision is also backed by the numbers as well, for he found himself boasting his team’s highest assist percentage of 20.4.

From using their bodies as shields in order for their teammates to get open to simply staying patient when it comes to waiting for a play to develop and hitting the open man, it’s undeniable that both Doncic and Cunningham have extremely similar habits when it comes to their taller stature mixing in with their playmaking skills.

That said, we at TI believe there’s one other player who seems to fit the bill to an even greater extent when it comes to uncanny comparisons to the incoming rookie…
