OKC Thunder Draft: 2 players to target with Houston Rockets pick

OKC Thunder draft target No. 2) Davion Mitchell
Should they opt to go and address their backcourt — which we at the site are certainly not opposed to –, it is arguable that there is no better option than the reigning Naismith Defensive Player of the Year and NCAA Champion, Davion Mitchell.
A four-year stay in college has Mitchell coming into the draft as one of the elders at 22-year-old which, to some, could deter them from taking the guard. That said, his stupendous play during his senior season at Baylor coupled with his two-way potential make him hard to pass on if found available when on the clock, even if it’s fifth overall but especially after that within the top-10.
Through 30 games played throughout the regular season, the Georgia native found himself posting impressive averages of 14.1 points, 5.5 assists, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.9 steals per game on 51 percent shooting from the floor and 45 percent shooting from deep.
His final year in college proved to do wonders for his draft stock, as he showcased unbelievable defensive versatility as well as an improved jumper and all-around distribution skills.
Drawing strong comparisons to the likes of Marcus Smart and even All-Star Donovan Mitchell, the 6-5 combo guard is an intriguing option for the front office to consider taking with their second pick on the night, for a combination of him and Gilgeous-Alexander in the backcourt for the OKC Thunder could prove to be a two-way nightmare for virtually every opponent they face.
