OKC Thunder Goal No.2: Improving lateral quickness

This may seem somewhat elementary to imply that Williams needs to work on lateral quickness, but it is the last thing in his defensive repertoire that needs a bit of work. Once he improves upon this, he will defend better, collect more deflections, and force opponents into shots that teams would not normally take.

In looking at deflections, let’s look at some hustle stats that ‘Kenny Hustle’ is already displaying for the OKC Thunder.

According to NBA hustle stats on NBA.com, ‘Kenny Hustle’ is averaging 1.8 deflections per game and is recovering about 58 percent of loose balls offensively as well as 41 percent of loose balls defensively.

Imagine if Williams can work on his lateral movement to improve these numbers moving forward next year. He will certainly be a problem for opposing offenses.
