OKC Thunder Draft: 2 NBA star comparisons for Evan Mobley
By Mark Nilon
NBA player comparison No. 1) LaMarcus Aldridge
Despite the fact that LaMarcus Aldridge, unfortunately, had to call it a career close to the end of this past regular season due to health complications, we still find him included on this current player comparison list due to the fact that he spent a large chunk of the campaign on an NBA roster.
Though the past couple of seasons may have shown his age a bit, a prime LMA was a force to be reckoned with, and being compared to the likes of the 7x All-Star should be viewed as a high-end compliment.
Like Aldridge, Evan Mobley displays great footwork and positioning skills on the hardwood when it comes to getting himself in an ideal location to set up for a score or to snag offensive rebounds and flush them in for a thunderous putback.
Though perhaps not as bulky as Aldridge, during his one-and-done season with the Trojans Mobley showed a propensity to back his defender down in the post and either finish at the rim with power and finesse or use his smooth touch on hook and/ or push shots.
Both talents also have showcased the ability to space the floor with their impressive mid-range games as well as their 3-point stroke, though Mobley still needs to find a way to convert more consistently on such attempts (30 percent from deep on 1.2 attempts per game).
A high ceiling exists for the 19-year-old, and Aldridge seems to be on the low to mid-level of his potential career trajectory. However, while he’s a solid NBA comp, there’s another player out there that many believe to be more desirable and, frankly, more apparent.
