OKC Thunder target No. 2) Lauri Markkanen

Lauri Markkanen is a player that we at TI have discussed quite a few times as a potential target for the OKC Thunder, be it at this past trade deadline or, just a few short weeks ago when we talked about him being a solid free agency grab.

The fact of the matter is, it’s more than likely that his time in Chicago is coming to an end after a disappointing season.

While one may be turned off by this description of his most recent campaign, it could actually wind up boding well for teams interested in pursuing him, as his talents could easily find themselves coming at a discount.

Despite the down year, Markkanen still went on to post solid per-game averages of 13.6 points and 5.3 rebounds on 48 percent shooting from the field and 40 percent shooting from deep, both splits being career-bests for the big.

At 24-years-old, the former seventh overall pick was one of only seven players this past year listed at 7-feet or taller who converted on 40+ percent of his 3-point bombs.

Having a floor spacer in the frontcourt could be of great service to OKC’s 29th ranked long-range shooting tribulations and could also help SGA work his way from being considered a budding star to a legitimate All-NBA caliber player.

Perhaps a change of scenery could do Lauri Markkanen some good, and the OKC Thunder should strongly consider taking a chance on him this summer.
