Dort just completed the second season of his four-year, minimum salary contract worth just over $5.0 million. The next two seasons are not guaranteed, but with the level of play that Dort has displayed this season, they will be when the time comes.
With the Thunder in the process of rebuilding their roster, a key piece like Dort only costing less than $2.0 million per season is crucial. He is going to grow his talents over the next two seasons which will continue to work well for the Thunder’s ability to sign some decent talent.

Dort was almost the poster child of what this season was for the OKC Thunder. He developed in such a way that he showed that his ceiling is still very difficult to judge. Dort has the potential to be one of the best two-way players in the league, he just needs to stay on the court.
Dort missed 20 games, including the last five where the Thunder shut him down. One of the other issues for Dort was that he turned the ball over a lot more than last season. He turned it over 1.5 times a game compared to 0.6 per game last season. This can be expected given that he was the primary ball-handler on so many more occasions this season.
