Why the Philadelphia 76ers would say yes to the OKC Thunder
When Doc Rivers was asked if Simmons could be the point guard of a championship team, he answered with that he didn’t know.
Then, Joel Embiid said that he gave his all and the turning point was when they shot one out of two free throws.
It seems that the 76ers, with the exception of Dwight Howard, have moved on from the generational talent that is Simmons. Yes, he does struggle to shoot free throws and has no range on his shot but there are so many positives with Simmons.
In Walker, the 76ers will get a scorer on all three levels who can set up his teammates. He has shown that he does not mind being the second and third option during his time with the Celtics, after spending so long as the first option for the Charlotte Hornets.
He adds a level of experience that the 76ers need at the point and has the ability to stay on the court during almost every situation that the game throws up. While there is a potential knee issue, if he is able to rest up in the offseason, this should not be a huge issue.
