Why the OKC Thunder say yes to the Philadelphia 76ers

More from Thunderous Intentions

The Thunder would pick up the talents of Ben Simmons who can act as another playmaker with court awareness which is simply a joy to watch. With Simmons, Gilgeous-Alexander, and Luguentz Dort on the court at the same time, the Thunder become a very difficult team to read defensively.

On top of that, he adds a level of defense that will help the Thunder.

Darius Bazley does everything he can against the opposition’s power forward but is often outmatched. Simmons finished second in the Defensive Player of the Year voting and can defend one through five.

There is also the lack of pressure playing with a rebuilding team. The fact that he was not making his free throws in the playoffs got inside his head. The problem is that the pressure in Philadelphia seems to get inside all young player’s heads.

Fultz, another former No. 1 draft pick for the 76ers, shot the ball at 53.4 percent from the free-throw line. Since he was traded to the Orlando Magic, he is shooting the ball at 74.7 percent from the line.

Perhaps a change in scenery will benefit Simmons in this way.
