Dort has worked hard at polishing up his offense so that he can be a relevant two-way threat on the Thunder’s roster for years to come. It is difficult to forget the Houston Rockets playoff game where they dared him to shoot and he missed too many shots, causing the Thunder to lose.
While a lot of these shots were good, open shots, Dort should not have taken them all as he was not a tremendous shooter from deep. It looks like this had a huge impact on Dort and he spent the offseason working on his 3-point shot.
This season he took 6.3 attempts per game, making 34.3 percent of them. This is impressive for a player who went undrafted due to concerns about his 3-point shooting. However, he needs to know when to shoot and when to pass.
The same goes for his driving to the hoop. If he was able to pass the ball when the opposition big was about to challenge his shot, then he becomes more dangerous. There are obviously exceptions to this rule like the 42 point effort against the Utah Jazz, there were no bad shots for Dort that game.
