The analysts point to Goran Dragic, Avery Bradley with a handle, and Frank Jackson as comparisons for Jared Butler.
Considering the careers of Dragic and Bradley that’s heady company to be included in. Butler has definitely demonstrated a willingness to work on his game and improve. Although he’s a junior he’ll turn 22 in August which is still young with time to build and improve.
OKC Thunder fit:
Every team in the association is keen to add a high-efficiency, high-volume perimeter scorer. Butler fits that description but there are questions on whether his lack of athleticism and size could impact that prowess in the pros.
Certainly, the OKC Thunder need more offensive talents and definitely need 3-point shooting but it’s unlikely they’ll make the jump to take Butler with the 18th pick. As per above he’s projected in most mock drafts to be selected in the mid to late 20s of the first round.
With other players who are a more natural fit to Mark Daigneault’s positionless system it seems unlikely Butler will be heading to the OKC Thunder.
