OKC Thunder NBA draft profile: Cameron Thomas, the bucket getter
Pro Comparison:
Pundits point to CJ McCollum, Terrence Ross, E’Twaun Moore, and J.J. Redick as pro comparisons. Fans who caught LSU matches this past season can understand the Redick connection given Thomas’ use of screens and constant movement.
Likewise, James Harden must be a Thomas favorite based on his sidestep 3-pointer, and how he utilizes his first step to catch defenders for easy fouls.
OKC Thunder fit:
More from Thunderous Intentions
- Stealing one player from every Southwest Division team for the OKC Thunder
- Should the OKC Thunder chase after a disgruntled hometown hero?
- 3 OKC Thunder players who can step up in Aleksej Pokusevski’s absence
- Aleksej Pokusevski sidelined approximately 6 weeks with ankle injury
- Damian Lillard does not fit with the OKC Thunder
If there was one thing Mark Daigneault consistently searched for especially without Shai Gilgeous-Alexander available it was someone who could provide consistent scoring. Thomas would offer that with the potential for more.
The current roster is comprised of a young developing core and could most definitely use the 19-year-old who simply goes out and gets buckets. He’s projected to be available when the Thunder selects 16th (or 18th) with some pundits believing he will land in OKC.
However, the deterrent to this happening is a common belief that Sam Presti won’t make three first-round selections. The expectation is the OKC Thunder GM will first attempt to package picks to move up and get one of the four projected generational talents.
Failing success in that endeavor, he could package his second and third picks with sights set on grabbing two of the top 10 picks.
