OKC Thunder free agency: Philadelphia 76ers guard Furkan Korkmaz (30): Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports /

Philadelphia 76ers

  • Gary Clark
  • Danny Green
  • Dwight Howard
  • Furkan Korkmaz
  • Mike Scott
  • Rayjon Tucker

2021 Draft Picks:

  • Forward,  Filip Petrusev (50th)
  • Center, Charles Bassey (53rd)

The team most expected to be playing in the Eastern Conference Finals exited in the second round. Philly suffered the misfortune of an injured superstar and yet it wasn’t Joel Embiid that was the primary reason why they failed.

Instead, Nate McMillan found the 76ers Achilles heel in cutting off Ben Simmons driving and passing lanes, forcing him to shoot and sending him repeatedly to the line often via hack-a-Ben fashion. The resulting effect was Simmons completely lost his confidence so much so that he refused to shoot at all.

Although Simmons is a talent, his trade value isn’t commensurate with his abilities because questions persist on whether any team can get him to even attempt more shots that aren’t taken within three feet of the rim.

There is only one option the OKC Thunder should consider which is to offer 23-year old wing Furkan Korkmaz a deal. He’s a microwave scorer but is also a streaky shooter. With Daryl Morey not having much flexibility given Embiid, Simmons, and Tobias Harris all being maxed out, Presti could potentially nab Korkmaz at a discount and look to find a place for him in the future core or flip him later for a profit.
