Toronto Raptors

2021 Free Agents:

  • Khem Birch
  • Kyle Lowry
  • Stanley Johnson
  • Gary Trent Jr. (see rumored offer below)

2021 Draft Picks:

  • Guard/Forward, Scottie Barnes (4th)
  • Guard, Dalano Banton (46th),
  • Guard, No. 47 – David Johnson (47th)

While several pundits (we see you Big Perk) cited the Raptors as the big losers in the draft for selecting Barnes over Suggs I’m not in that camp. Just like I felt Suggs fit in Orlando was tailormade, I’m also high on Barnes fit with the Raptors.

Lest we forget,  the Raptors are known leaguewide as arguably the best development team and can showcase the results of their efforts via Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby — both of whom weren’t projected as shooters at the time they were drafted either.

Every eye will be on Toronto as the moratorium begins this evening since so much of what happens will depend on Kyle Lowry. As noted in the Heat segment I was leaning toward the Raptors re-signing him but his new scuttlebutt about DeRozan’s mutual interest in Miami has me questioning my original stance.

Toronto is one of the eight teams with cap space and is rumored to have already made an offer to Gary Trent Jr.   He was the no-brainer OKC Thunder option. Despite a glut of guards in OKC GTJ is already well ahead of Maledon, Jermone, etc, etc, so like many teams keeping an eye on the Raptors the Thunder should be too but for a different free agent.
