OKC Thunder preview, Pistons guard Hamidou Diallo (6) gets defended : Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports /

Detroit Pistons

2021 Free Agents:

  • Hamidou Diallo (restricted)
  • Wayne Ellington
  • Frank Jackson (restricted)
  • Saben Lee (restricted)
  • Dennis Smith Jr. (restricted)

2021 Draft Picks:

  • Guard, Cade Cunningham (1st)
  • Forward, Isaiah Livers (42nd)
  • Center, Luka Garza (52nd)
  • Center, Balsa Koprivica (57th)

Regardless of what the Pistons do the rest of the offseason, they’ll be celebrating. The addition of Cade Cunningham provides Troy Weaver with a generational talent that Detroit can now build around.

In truth, the best option on the Pistons free-agent board is former OKC Thunder wing Hamidou Diallo but it won’t make sense for Presti to try to entice him to return. That Hami started the season in OKC shooting 29.3 percent on 1.3 attempts from deep then found his range in Detroit shooting 39 percent on 2.1 attempts stings.

As a restricted free agent, the Pistons can match any offer Diallo gets and I won’t be surprised if his hometown Knicks elect to force Detroit to do precisely that.
