Indiana Pacers

2021 Free Agents:

  • T.J. McConnell
  • Doug McDermott
  • JaKarr Sampson
  • Cassius Stanley (restricted)

2021 Draft Picks:

  • Forward, Chris Duarte (13th)
  • Center, Isaiah Jackson (22nd)

With Rick Carlisle back in Indiana the Pacers youngsters are experiencing their third head coach in as many seasons. After letting Nate McMillan go for not being able to get Indy out of the first round he got the ultimate payback taking the Hawks to the Conference Finals. No doubt, Kevin Pritchard is sitting in a very hot seat.

The problem is the Pacers aren’t constructed to win a championship despite the presence of two quality big men – former OKC Thunder center Domantas Sabonis as well as Myles Turner. The latter missed 25 games due to injury.

In fairness to Nate Bjorkgren, many of his players dealt with injury including breakout star TJ Warren who appeared in only four games.  Caris LeVert underwent kidney surgery when cancer was discovered in the physical conducted for the trade and Jeremy Lamb also missed half the season.

A scan of their available free agents certainly doesn’t offer much to get excited about. Former OKC Thunder sniper McDermott at 29 won’t fit the timeline, McConnell while scrappy isn’t a player who Daigneault needs when he has a plethora of guards to choose from and the remainder are support staff who barely made it on the court despite all the Pacers injury woes.

Suffice to say there isn’t Pacers free agent I can even pretend Presti should consider.
