OKC Thunder: Aaron Wiggins looks to build off NBA Summer League
By Rylan Stiles
Continuing the OKC Thunder 2021 Media Day the players who took to the podium included four rookies who were added this summer. Training camp begins on Tuesday and preseason will follow with four games on the itinerary between October 4th and 14th.
When executive vice president Sam Presti met with the media on Friday for his annual preseason press conference he spent a ton of time discussing the future of the franchise.
When it comes to the young players on the squad Presti discussed how the team will continue developing its culture and touched on how the process begins during the NBA Summer League
"“The identity of the team is constantly evolving, and I think a lot of the guys we have now see an opportunity to be catalysts to the next breakthrough, and that starts in summer league with relationship building, leadership opportunities, dealing with adversities, dealing with successes. It’s something I really love being around to watch it because those moments are the ones that everybody celebrates.”"

Of the four draft prospects, Sam Presti added this summer Aaron Wiggins was his final selection. The 55th pick of the 2021 NBA Draft isn’t going to be the main focus of the class, though the Maryland product could develop into a contributing member of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Wiggins appeared in all five games for the OKC Thunder in Vegas at NBA Summer League and made an impression. He averaged 11 points shooting 42 percent from the floor. He struggled from the perimeter and the charity stripe.
In addition, the guard grabbed four rebounds, dished two assists, and collected a steal per game in 28 minutes per contest.
The 22-year old signed one of the team’s two-way contracts. He’ll divide his time between the NBA club and G-League affiliate OKC Blue who will also play out of the Paycom center this season.
The Oklahoma City Thunder have a long history of converting two-way contracts to full-time NBA deals, and Aaron Wiggins could be the next to get his ticket punched to a full-time NBA pact.
