By Rylan Stiles
The OKC Thunder and the rest of the NBA have released their 2021-22 NBA City edition uniforms. With that comes 30 new uniform sets and some teams revealing alternate courts to play on when the team dawns these special uniforms.
The Oklahoma City Thunder will wear these new uniforms fourteen times this season with the new court being in place for each Friday home game throughout the 2021-22 NBA season.
The OKC Thunder reveals a new court and uniform combination
Today was a highly anticipated event as the OKC Thunder unveiled a new uniform as a change of pace to their traditional, and admittedly bland, uniforms. Since NIKE took over the uniform responsibilities for the league, they have combined for some awesome uniforms for the Oklahoma City Thunder. This year was no different.
These iced-out uniforms have a ton of hidden meanings. On the waistband of the shorts, you can see the original Oklahoma City basketball logo that the organization used during the 2008 Summer League before the team showed their true logo for the first time.
The stripes have turned into a staple in the background of the OKC Thunder alternate uniforms, and the vertical lettering is a nod to the old-school navy uniforms the team wore during their first era of Thunder basketball.
The OKC Thunder for the first time in franchise history will have an alternate court as the team is going with a grey floor and icy mid-court logo.
Most importantly, the Oklahoma City Thunder players LOVE this new look for the organization each player in the team’s hype-up video says it all. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the team’s max contract player, exclaimed he could not wait to play in these uniforms on the new hardwood.
