OKC Thunder – 30 team trade assessment, Dec 15th: Pistons forward Jerami Grant (9): Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports /

Detroit Pistons

Players now eligible: Saben Lee, Trey Lyles, Kelly Olynyk (Frank Jackson, Cory Joseph, and Rodney McGruder all have some level of restrictions)

The most likely name on the block is former OKC Thunder forward Jerami Grant. His status will likely gain steam while he’s out injured as Cade Cunningham becomes the primary scorer and playmaker.

The timeline doesn’t seem to fit keeping Grant but he accepted the move to Detroit based on a strong relationship with Troy Weaver which might be tricky given those bonds to now move on from him.

Still, Grant is best served as the third scoring option and as a stellar defender. The defensive prowess he displayed in Denver hasn’t been evident in Detroit likely because he was carrying too much of the offensive load or not surrounded by like-minded (or capable) defenders.

In fairness, he became the primary scorer on Detroit, and subsequently, both his defense and 3-point shooting regressed.

Frank Jackson has also demonstrated he could offer some quality minutes off the bench for a contender.
