Memphis Grizzlies tab Ja Morant as questionable vs OKC Thunder
By Rylan Stiles
The OKC Thunder are set to take on the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night in Memphis as the Oklahoma City Thunder plot revenge against the Grizzlies who without their star player, Ja Morant, turned in a 73-point victory over the Thunder, the largest in NBA history.
At the time, the OKC Thunder lacked their star, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, key rotational pieces such as Kenrich Williams and Derrick Favors, along with sixth overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft Josh Giddey. Mark Daigneault mentioned after practice on Sunday, that those players are fired up, and hungry, to get back out there.
Memphis lists Ja Morant as questionable vs OKC Thunder
The Memphis Grizzlies have a lengthy injury report for this tilt with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Tyus Jones and JA Morant are listed as questionable with a finger sprain and left knee sprain respectfully.
The Grizzlies will miss Santi Aldama (calf soreness) who was a plus 52 in the box score against the OKC Thunder the last time out. Memphis also misses Brandon Clarke, who the OKC Thunder traded on draft night for Darius Bazley, Sam Merrill, and Ziaire Williams.
The Oklahoma City Thunder will only miss Vit Krejci, who is currently with the OKC Blue in Vegas for the NBA G-League Winter cup showcase. The OKC Blue won their first game on Sunday as Vit Krejci produced a ten-point, ten rebound double-double.
The OKC Thunder changed up the starting lineup last time out as they benched Darius Bazley, who was riding an 84-game starting streak, in favor of Aaron Wiggins. Mark Daigneault gave a look inside the decision-making process on Sunday, noting he would be shocked if the team started Wiggins again tonight, but will look at the two-big option, or even just throwing *another* guard on the floor.
One can only hope that the Oklahoma City Thunder will play with more energy than the last time these two teams faced off!
