The OKC Thunder are now searching for hardship players to sign ahead of what will be a long week for the organization. The Oklahoma City Thunder saw their first COVID-19 outbreak, sending Darius Bazley, Tre Mann, Aleksej Pokusevski, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, and briefly Aaron Wiggins to the Health and Safety Protocols. Wiggins was only listed as in the protocols for about an hour before he was tabbed as available for the game Tuesday against the Kings.

The OKC Thunder this week will play on Tuesday against the Kings, Wednesday against the Suns, Friday against the Knicks, and Sunday against the Mavericks one of their heaviest workweeks of the season with two of those contests on the road, and two in downtown Oklahoma City at the Paycom Center.

Fresh off a Player of the Week award, the brunt of the work falls squarely on the shoulders of max contract point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander who is still vying for his first All-Star nod as voting opened up on Saturday.

Though with the number of players out, and the possibility of more to come, the OKC Thunder will need to sign a few players to a hardship exhibition ten-day contract to provide depth for the Oklahoma City Thunder organization.

Who knows how valuable they will be, and how many minutes they will log though as Mark Daigneault still has a few players on this roster he has not given significant run to then he will likely prioritize over a newbie ten-day player. Ty Jerome, Gabriel Deck, Isaiah Roby, and Paul Watson Jr come to mind as well as increased roles for prominent bench players such as Mike Muscala, Kenrich Williams, and Derrick Favors.

Let’s have some fun and evaluate some NBA G-League options, some fun options, and everything in between.
