The OKC Thunder are in desperate need of the NBA All-Star Break, and only one game stands in their way. The Oklahoma City Thunder will take on the San Antonio Spurs. After their thrilling win over the New York Knicks in the Mecca of Basketball which saw Josh Giddey record a third triple-double during his rookie season, and Tre Mann poured in 30 points.

That win snapped a five-game losing streak to give the Thunder some momentum heading into the NBA All-Star Break. The only thing standing in the way of their break is the San Antonio Spurs, in downtown Oklahoma City at the Paycom Center. Mark Daigneault informed the media of his All-Star Break plans “Lake Hefner that is about as far as I will go.” adding he will spend extended time with his three-month-old son. Following the game, I am sure we will learn of the player’s plans for their week off, though we know rookie Josh Giddey will spend his weekend in Cleveland participating in the rising stars and NBA skills competition. Mark Daigneault also mentioned he has never watched the NBA Skills competition but will this weekend for the Thunder rookie.

OKC Thunder take on the San Antonio Spurs as they are down three starters and multiple role players

The Oklahoma City Thunder take on the San Antonio Spurs very short-handed. The Thunder will be without star players Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Defensive menace Lu Dort, starting big man and rookie Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, Mike Muscala, Ty Jerome, and Kenrich Williams are all out as well. Mark Daigneault gave an update on all players who are hurt, saying they will all be reevaluated during the break, and could potentially miss games when the season resumes.

Though, on the topic of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the OKC Thunder bench boss said he is “progressing on track” and will be looked out during the next week. It appears as though an SGA return to the hardwood is close.

The Spurs are only down Tre Jones, Joe Wisekamp, and Devontae Cacok. After this tilt with the Spurs, the OKC Thunder will not be in action again until Thursday, February 24th when they play host to the red hot, Western Conference-leading, Suns.

Next. should Shai Gilgeous-Alexander play more off ball?. dark
