The Oklahoma City Thunder selected Chet Holmgren 2nd overall in the 2022 NBA Draft in hopes he can become a future NBA Star and cornerstone piece of this franchise. Back in 2007, the franchise which was located in Seattle at the time selected Kevin Durant 2nd overall with the same aspirations.
Kevin Durant went on to win four scoring titles, being named an All-Star 12 times, a two-time NBA Champion and Finals MVP, a League MVP, Rookie of the Year honors, ten-time All-NBA honors, and a member of the 75th-anniversary team honoring the top-75 players in NBA history. Safe to say, the bet paid off for the franchise back in 2007.
Durant’s nine-year run with the franchise included multiple trips to the Western Conference Finals and one run to the NBA Finals averaging 27 points, seven rebounds, three assists, a steal, and a block per game with the franchise. Now, the OKC Thunder have their next bet on a lengthy seven-footer with offensive skills.
