OKC Thunder vs. Grizzlies Stats Comparison

It feels almost odd to say the OKC Thunder are among the league’s best offensive squads after they spent the early weeks of the season mired in the basement for offensive production.

But something seemingly clicked with the team during the double-overtime loss to the Bucks and they’ve been on a roll offensively ever since.

In fact, prior to the Bucks game on November 9th, the Thunder ranked 23rd in scoring but they’ve vaulted to 6th overall, averaging 116.6 points per game (133 per game through the last five).

OKC has also improved its proficiency in the same time frame increasing the field goal and perimeter percentage from 28th and 29th up to 14th and 20th. Specifically, they’re averaging 46.9% from the field and 34.4% from deep.

In comparison, the Grizzlies score 113.9 points per game which ranks 13th, and shoot 46.3 percent from the field (ranking 20th) and 36.3 percent from deep (ranking 13th).

Both clubs have specific areas on defense where they excel as well as glaring weaknesses.

The OKC Thunder allow opponents to score more with 116.5 points per game versus the Grizzlies allowed 113.4 points per game.  They rank 25th and 17th respectively.

In terms of efficiency, the Grizzlies perform slightly better from both the field (45.9% vs 46.6%) while the Thunder are the better perimeter defenders (36% versus 36.4%).

Memphis ranks 11th (field) and 20th (perimeter) while the Thunder ranks 15th (field) and 16th (perimeter).
