The Oklahoma City Thunder had an eventful week as the Portland Trail Blazers came to town for a two-game baseball series in the Paycom Center. Josh Giddey was only available to play in one of those contests against the Blazers, in which he dominated despite losing ten pounds due to an illness that caused him to miss two games last week.

Before the second game of this mini-series, I asked NBA legend, NBA Champion, Five-time All-Star, two-time All-Defensive, three-time All-NBA, and Finals MVP and great point guard, Chauncey Billups, about Thunder Sophomore guard Josh Giddey. The Legend spoke glowingly about Giddey.

NBA Legend and NBA Champion Chauncey Billups loves Josh Giddey’s game “I really like him, He has incredible feel”

During Chauncey Billups’s pregame media session on Wednesday night, I ended the press conference by asking Billups what he thought of Oklahoma City Thunder sophomore guard Josh Giddey.

Chauncey Billups said of Josh Giddey “I really like him, he has incredible feel. He plays the game very easy, when guys are open he passes to him, two people there he passes to the open guy, kick the ball up the floor.”

Josh Giddey was named to the second team All-Rookie team last year, and so far in his career averages eight assists per game. Billups continued by saying Giddey “makes the game easy for you and everybody else. He always has his head up when he drives the ball. He is a big guy so he gets to his spot to shoot it.”

One of the biggest words of confidence the legendary point guard gave Giddey was stating his confidence level “He plays with a confidence that I really like, he is always thinking the game.”

While many wonder what the ceiling of Josh Giddey will be, Chauncey Billups ends the diatribe by saying “I think he is an excellent point guard.”

That he is, over his last nine games, Giddey is averaging 15 points, ten rebounds, five assists, and a steal per game while shooting 47 percent from the floor, 43 percent from three on three attempts per game, and just two turnovers per tilt with his usage rate is an encouraging sign.

The praise that NBA coaches, scouts, and players give when talking about Josh Giddey should give every Oklahoma City Thunder a warm and fuzzy feeling as the future in Bricktown, next to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and all the other incredible assets OKC has is very bright.
