The final game of 2022 for the OKC Thunder features Joel Embiid and his Philadelphia 76ers in town to ring in the New Year.

Over the years the Cameroonian big man has served up some highly entertaining matches at the Paycom Center (former Chesapeake Arena), especially the battles he and Russell Westbrook engaged in.

This matchup also features the return of former OKC Thunder star James Harden who’ll likely draw more attention in the key matchups given how he’s distributing the ball. And to be fair OKC doesn’t have a great counter for Embiid — then again who does.

OKC last played Thursday in Charlotte losing 113-121 to the Hornets while the 76ers are finishing a back-to-back set having lost 116-127 to the Pelicans on Friday.

Entering this match the Thunder sit 12th in the West while the 76ers sit fifth

With that let’s dive into the odds, injuries, and game details.

OKC Thunder vs 76ers Odds, Spread, Over/Under

It’s not necessarily a surprise the oddsmakers favor the 76ers but they’re coming off a back-to-back where they played a physical Pelicans team.

Plus Philly isn’t exactly feasting on the road so the 4.5-point spread feels too rich. The over/under is set at 231.5 and the moneyline places the Thunder at plus +170 and the Sixers at minus -185.

Some other betting notables:

  • The OKC Thunder are 10-5 ATS in their last 15 games.
  • The 76ers are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games.
  • The OKC Thunder are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games at home
  • The 76ers are 3-10 straight-up in their last 13 games in OKC
  • The OKC Thunder are 6-3 ATS in their last 9 games played in December.
  • The 76ers are 8-3 straight-up in their last 11 games.

Injury Report

As of the 4:30 AM update to the official NBA injury report the OKC Thunder list

Aleksej Pokusevsk (left tibial plateau – non-displaced fracture), Jeremiah Robinson-Earl (ankle), and Ousmane Dieng (fractured wrist) are all out.

Chet Holmgren (foot – Lisfranc fracture) is shut down for the season.

Lindy Waters III is  on  G League assignment

Since Philly played in New Orleans and is traveling they haven’t submitted a new injury update but presumably, it remains the same as Friday:

Julian Champagnie, Louis King, and Jaden Springer are all on  G League assignment.

The only other question would be whether Maxey plays on consecutive dates given he just returned.
