The Oklahoma City Thunder are having a great season thus far, sitting just half a game back of the NBA Play-In tournament for the Western Conference the OKC Thunder have been led by their two dynamic guards Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Josh Giddey. Now, the league is taking notice.

Since December 1st, Josh Giddey is averaging 17 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and nearly a steal per game while shooting 50 percent from the floor, 40 percent from three, and 91 percent from the charity stripe. That is a 20-game sample size for the Sophomore guard.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has played at an MVP level all season he is well on his way to his first All-Star appearance in a few weeks in Salt Lake City. Gilgeous-Alexander is averaging 30 points, five rebounds, and five assists per game while shooting 50 percent from the floor, 34 percent from three-point land, and 90 percent from the charity stripe.

Now, the guard tandem is working well together. They have improved their numbers when on the floor together compared to last year, and with the stagger of minutes Mark Daigneault is deploying it is resulting in more wins.

The NBA announced that Oklahoma City Thunder guards Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Josh Giddey were nominees for the NBA Western Conference Player of the Week award

It was announced by the NBA that the winners of the week 13 player of the week awards were Domantas Sabonis for the Western Conference and Jalen Brunson for the Eastern Conference.

Sabonis has a compelling case for Western Conference player of the week as he takes home the honors by averaging 18 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists to propel the Kings to a 4-0 record during Week 13.

The NBA named OKC Thunder guards Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Josh Giddey as nominees for the award. As the two teammates split votes, do they have a better case than Sabonis? I do not think so, given the triple-double average of the Kings star, but it is still nice to see the young guards earn respect on a national stage.

This week Josh Giddey averaged 22 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists, and shot 53 percent from the floor, just 21 percent from deep, and 92 percent from the line.

For Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, his week featured him posting 28 points, six rebounds, four assists, two steals, and a block per game while shooting 52 percent from the floor and stroking the trey ball at a 40 percent clip.

The Thunder starts their week 14 with a Wednesday matchup against the Indiana Pacers, before heading west to take on Sabonis’ Kings on Friday night, and ending the week in Denver against the Nuggets on Saturday. Can the two guards keep up this high level of play?
