On Thursday evening the All-Star starters were revealed with no change from the last update. That means OKC Thunder star and cornerstone Shai Gilgeous-Alexander wasn’t able to make any inroads from the last update.

In fact not only did the names remain the same, but there were also literally no surprises on the list.

In the West Stephen Curry and Luka Doncic are the backcourt picks with captain LeBron James, reigning MVP Nikola Jokic and Zion Williamson upfront.

In the East, Kyrie Irving and Donovan Mitchell are the guard selections with Jayson Tatum, Kevin Durant, and captain Giannis Antetokounmpo upfront.

The 10 players who were picked are undeniably some of the top players in the association but there is a decent debate they should not be the 10 players starting.

I get that people will think this is just split milk with my bias showing. But I’ll counter that by clarifying I’m not complaining that my favorite Eastern team has no representation and may not get a reserve either.

Rather, my issue is tied directly to the fact many of the selections are based on popularity. Ahhh – but not just popularity based on likability or the best performances but popularity based on exposure.
