The Oklahoma City Thunder have started their 2023 NBA offseason. Tipped off by those of us in the media talking with each player on the roster and General Manager Sam Presti, who announced the OKC Thunder will be playing in two Summer Leagues again this season.

Last summer, the Thunder participated in the Salt Lake City Classic, hosted by the Utah Jazz, before joining the rest of the league in Las Vegas, Nevada, for the main event. The OKC Thunder will do the same this season with dates now set.

The OKC Thunder will again play in two NBA Summer League sessions, starting in Salt Lake City on July 3rd.

Last season, the Oklahoma City Thunder headlined the Salt Lake City classic putting a team on the floor that consisted of Josh Giddey, Chet Holmgren, Jalen Williams, Ousmane Dieng, Jaylin Williams, Aaron Wiggins, Tre Mann, Lindy Waters III, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, Vit Krejci, Eugene Omoruyi, and Aleksej Pokusevski.  Of those 12 players, ten of them found themselves in Mark Daigneault’s rotation at one point on the Thunder’s way to 40 wins.

This year, the Summer League roster will be less…exciting. However, Chet Holmgren and Ousmane Dieng will likely be on the roster, along with another top-12 pick.

I asked Sam Presti if they would participate in two Summer Leagues a week ago. He confirmed and explained that the team loves taking advantage of this resource for more developmental opportunities.

The Salt Lake City Classic will begin on July 3rd and run through the 6th. The field will remain the same as last season. The 76ers, Grizzlies, and Jazz join the Thunder.

The Vegas NBA Summer League will run from July 7th through the 17th, with matchups to be determined after the 2023 NBA Draft.

Hopefully, this year’s Summer League will provide us with more great moments, such as Chet Holmgren’s dominant debut a year ago.
