OKC Thunder 2023 Salt Lake City Summer League Schedule
By Rylan Stiles
At his annual exit interview, Sam Presticonfirmed to me that the Oklahoma City Thunder are playing in two Summer League sessions this offseason. Now we know the schedule for the OKC Thunder’s Salt Lake City portion of their Summer League circuit.
A year ago in Salt Lake City, the OKC Thunder took the league by storm. A surprise Josh Giddey cameo, Chet Holmgren getting shoutouts from NBA Superstars, and Jalen Williams already beginning to impress, laying the foundation for a fantastic rookie season.
The OKC Thunder will play three games in Salt Lake City to tip off their 2023 Summer League campaign.
From July 3rd through the 6th, the OKC Thunder will play the Memphis Grizzlies, Utah Jazz, and Philadelphia 76ers in Salt Lake City. From there, the teams will head to Vegas to play their second summer league schedule from the 7th-17th. Dates, matchups, and times for the Vegas portion will come out at a later date. For now, we have the schedule for the three dates in Salt Lake City.
The Oklahoma City Thunder will start their Summer League schedule on July 3rd at Vivant Arena against the host team Utah Jazz at 8 p.m. central time. After a July 4th off day, the Thunder will play the Memphis Grizzlies at 6 p.m. central time on the 5th of July. The Salt Lake City circuit wraps up on July 6th against the 76ers at 6 p.m. central time. These games will be broadcasted across the ESPN Family of Networks, NBA TV, and the NBA App. It can be heard on WWLS, the Sports Animal in Oklahoma City.
Rising star Jalen Williams has already confirmed he will play in Summer League, and 11th overall pick Ousmane Dieng confirmed to me he will also participate in the Summer League. Sam Presti was asked about Chet Holmgren making his return to Salt Lake City, and the Thunder general manager said it is “very possible.” I would also guess Jaylin Williams is on the table to play in this Salt Lake City portion.
Typically, “veterans” like Holmgren, Dieng, Williams, and Williams, only play in Salt Lake City and not Vegas. That makes the Salt Lake City portion of Summer League must-watch TV. Along with that group, the 2023 Draft class will join the team in Summer League.
