OKC Thunder Roster Prediction for TyTy Washington

As I mentioned in previous sections, TyTy Washington Jr is a young guard, still only twenty-one years old, and has only played one year in the NBA but has a ton of potential and upside. The issue for TyTy Washington is the Thunder didn’t invest any capital in him, so it is easier for them to cut them, especially given the current guard situation.

Washington Jr was traded during NBA Las Vegas Summer League, and he appeared in two games for the Thunder. He averaged twenty minutes, six points, three rebounds, and two assists per game in those two contests while shooting fifty percent from the floor.

Since TyTy Washington Jr didn’t do much in Las Vegas Summer League, he will be pressured to be good during training camp and the preseason. It is a loaded roster with five guys fighting for one roster spot, and Washington Jr is probably the guy with the most to prove out of that group.

I don’t see Washington showing enough to convince the OKC Thunder to keep him, considering the other guards they have on the roster.

The only thing that would change the calculus on his likelihood of making the roster is if the Thunder traded Tre Mann. If Washington Jr is so much better than Tre Mann during training camp, I could see the possibility of Mann being traded. The likelihood of this happening is slim, and I lean towards TyTy Washington Jr being on a different team for the first game of the regular season.
