The Case against Jeremiah Robinson-Earl making the OKC Thunder:

The sophomore season was a struggle for Jeremiah Robinson-Earl. His grade three ankle injury really hampered his play, and he was inefficient in shooting the ball.

As the season went on, his minutes diminished, and he slid down the rotation as each game went by. He even struggled in the one summer league game that he played in.

One of Robinson-Earl’s struggles in his second season was finishing at the rim and shooting efficiently. He shot 55 percent around the ring last season and was in the fifth percentile for his position. He averaged just six points, four rebounds, and one assist per game, turning in 53 percent from two, 33 percent from three, and a respectable 88 percent from the charity stripe.

Robinson-Earl didn’t show any drastic improvement from year one to year two, and other players who are better than him are already on the roster. He is fighting for less than ten minutes per game and the fifteenth roster spot on the team.

The case against Robinson-Earl is his talent isn’t high enough for him to warrant developmental minutes when the OKC Thunder are trying to make the playoffs. His boom potential leaves a lot to be desired. There is still a high chance he turns into a rotational NBA big man, but the Thunder have a stable of players better suited for their style of play at that position.
