Will Tre Mann survive the OKC Thunder Roster Crunch?
By Parker Eaves
OKC Thunder Roster Prediction for Tre Mann:
The Thunder have some tough decisions to make this fall on who they decide to cut before the regular season begins. They have thirteen players that are locks to make the team and five players fighting for the remaining two spots.
Davis Bertans, Victor Oladipo, and Jack White are older players who provide a higher floor for a team that wants to win but doesn’t have the ceilings of the two younger players like Jeremiah Robinson-Earl and Tre Mann.
The last roster spot likely comes down to Robinson-Earl and Mann. There are a lot of similarities between the two players and both are 2021 draft picks.
Both players had promising rookie seasons followed by underwhelming sophomore seasons. Mann played well in Summer League this year and Robinson-Earl did not. Robinson-Earl was dealing with an injury throughout the season and Mann saw his playing time decrease as the season went on.
Mann was drafted higher and the Thunder invested more draft capital into him than they did Robinson-Earl, and he still has the pedigree of a former first-round pick.
I believe OKC will choose to keep Mann over Robinson-Earl because his upside is still higher and if he can focus more on defense and better shot selection he will be a good depth piece for the roster.
