Bleacher Report tabs interesting top duo for OKC Thunder
By Rylan Stiles
The OKC Thunder have a solidified “core four.” Between Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Josh Giddey, Jalen Williams, and Chet Holmgren, it is exciting to think about the future of Oklahoma City Thunder basketball.
Each year, Bleacher Report attempts to play a “Top Duo Tournament,” pitting a 2v2 style game of the entire League’s best duos against each other. While some teams are fairly cut and dry (Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, etc.), the Bleacher Report team had to conjure up the OKC Thunder pair of these four options.
Bleacher Report tabs an interesting best duo for the OKC Thunder in their yearly tournament.
The Oklahoma City Thunder have a bonafide superstar, a blue chip, one of the best in the world, talent. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is an easy player to enlist into this Bleacher Report Duo’s pairing. However, deciding between Josh Giddey, Jalen Williams, and Chet Holmgren gets a bit tougher.
Bleacher Report left it up to a fan vote on their OKC Thunder tab, and with 47 percent of the vote, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Josh Giddey won the duo ranking. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren finished second with 31 percent of the vote, and in third place were Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams, taking home 22 percent of the vote.
The Bleacher Report tournament begins Wednesday and it will feature a series of fan votes to crown the League’s best two-man squad. Up first, the Oklahoma City Thunder will take on the Brooklyn Nets.
The Nets duo is listed as Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson, can Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Josh Giddey top this Eastern Conference Squad? You can vote on Bleacher Report‘s website or the app.
I think for an actual game, or even an NBA 2k simulation, Chet Holmgren might have been the choice for a duo pairing with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s skillset, but Gilgeous-Alexander and Giddey should be able to make some noise in this fan vote. After all, they are now both GQ stars.
