5 Bold Predictions for the Oklahoma City Thunder for the 2023-24 Season

The OKC Thunder will be a top-six seed in the Western Conference

Thunder Nation, one year ago, I did not pick the Oklahoma City Thunder to make the NBA play-in tournament during bold predictions. I am going double-down and predict they will not be in the play-in once again because they will be in the Western Conference’s safe-six with a guaranteed playoff berth, no play-in game required.

It will not be easy; they will need things to swing their way in the standings, and it will likely come down to the final day of the regular season.

With that said it would be boring if the OKC Thunder did not add a little extra spice to their season and keep their fans on the edge of their seats with suspense about where the standings will fall.

There are select teams that automatically pencil in ahead of the Thunder, the defending champion Denver Nuggets, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Phoenix Suns, and the Sacramento Kings; after that, things get messy.

The West is once again a congested situation after a few down years. For the OKC Thunder, they should be able to get the best of both worlds in winning enough games to make it into the safe six while also getting their young prospects opportunities to grow and evolve.

This season’s goals do not need to be one or the other; for the Thunder to contend for years to come, they need more development.

There will be instances where a starter is banged up, and in street clothes, a starter is resting, or even when OKC is blowing out a team when the others genuinely get a showcase opportunity, and many more chances in between.
