The Oklahoma City Thunder take on the Golden State Warriors in their inaugural In-Season Tournament matchup. The OKC Thunder will be debuting a new court and looking to win the first-ever NBA Cup in an exciting group.

This morning at the Golden State Warriors shoot-around, there was a significant OKC Thunder media presence partly because we have nothing better to do, partly because of the chase for new court clout, and partly because it is still the Golden State Warriors. At one time, the Beatles of the NBA are now on what is starting to feel like their Farewell tour. Like the Eagles, whenever you think this is the end, they tour again and show you they still have it.

Two franchises that will forever be coupled together that have crammed a lifetime of history in just 15 years in Bricktown, it is impossible to shake the feeling that something special could happen anytime these two teams throw the ball in the air.

OKC Thunder fans get PTSD From Game 6 Klay ahead of their In-Season Tournament matchup.

More often than not, heartbreak has fallen over Bricktown when these two teams meet. Sure, the Thunder will forever have that Thanksgiving Eve game where Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant go forehead-to-forehead at the Free Throw Line as the newly minted OK3 ran away with a big win, and going up 3-1 in the Western Conference Finals was Euphoric, but those Warriors…They always strike back.

Game 6 Klay. A phrase that will make any OKC Thunder shiver, at least often cry, as visions of Thompson going on a rampage for 41 points on a jaw-dropping 11 triples in Bricktown to will the Warriors back and force a game 7 in Golden State that felt lost before the two team’s left Will Rodger’s Airport.

Now, in 2023, all these years removed from that dreadful May Day, it still stings. The NBA Schedule Makers knew what they were doing as the OKC Thunder will play their sixth game of the season against the Golden State Warriors and Klay Thompson in Oklahoma City.

Since Tweeting that video of Klay Thompson warming up at the Paycom Center, fans have voiced their displeasure with this realization and have made it known that the memories still haunt them.
