Cavaliers vs. Thunder NBA expert prediction and odds for Wednesday, Nov. 8
By Peter Dewey
The Oklahoma City Thunder and Cleveland Cavaliers are two up-and-coming young teams, and they’ll face off for the second and final team in the regular season on Wednesday.
Oklahoma City won the first meeting between these teams in Cleveland, but Darius Garland and Jarrett Allen both missed that game for the Cavs.
Both players have since returned to the lineup, so OKC could be in for a much tougher matchup at home on Nov. 8.
The Cavs are still under .500 on the season, but they’ve won two of their last three games – most recently beating the Golden State Warriors.
Do Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and company have what it takes to pull off a season sweep of the Cavs?

Cavaliers vs. Thunder key players to watch
Cleveland Cavaliers
Donovan Mitchell: Mitchell has been on a tear this season, averaging 32.5 points per game for the Cavs. He’s going to be the focal point of the offense, and he did score 43 points in the first meeting against OKC.
Darius Garland: Garland could change the game for Cleveland, as he is one of the team’s primary scorers and the best facilitator on the roster. If OKC lets him get going from the outside, it’s going to have a tough time slowing down this offense.
Oklahoma City Thunder
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: It’s been a big up-and-down start to the season for SGA, but he should thrive against a Cavs team that lacks elite perimeter defenders to put on him. Cleveland could go with Max Strus or Isaac Okoro to start on SGA in this game.
Chet Holmgren: Chet Holmgren has been great to start this season, but this will be a rest against a big frontcourt that features Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen.
Cavaliers vs. Thunder prediction and pick
OKC has been elite against the spread once again this season, going 5-2 through its first seven games.
Last season, the team was 10-10 against the spread as a home underdog, and I think it is live to upset this Cavs team on Wednesday night.
Cleveland has struggled on offense this season, ranking 27th in the NBA in offensive rating, and it’s led to the team ranking 18th in the league in net rating.
While Mitchell has been elite, the team has not gotten as much from Garland – who is shooting just 8.3 percent from beyond the arc this season.
There is still plenty of time for the Cavs to turn things around, but I don’t think it comes on the road against an up-and-coming OKC team that may still be a little undervalued by oddsmakers.
