The OKC Thunder earned a massive road win in Phoenix against the Suns. This marks the first win against a Western Conference foe all season for the Thunder, and it came on the backs of their young core.

The OKC Thunder starters were able to post 103 points, headlined by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams. Gilgeous-Alexander was able to shake loose for 35 points, seven rebounds, four assists, a steal, and a block. The Suns had no one to trust on Gilgeous-Alexander, leading to them throwing doubles at the superstar all night.

Jalen Williams helped carry the load by posting 31 points against his hometown Suns, to go along with a rebound and a pair of steals. It only took Williams 16 shots to amass 31 points to boost the OKC Thunder to a 111-99 win.

Holding the Suns offense, led by Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal, to below 100 points is a massive feather in the cap of Mark Daigneault’s squad. Beal was limited to just 15 points, while Durant poured in 28 points during a back-and-forth affair.

OKC Thunder fans react to a massive road win against the Phoenix Suns thanks to the young core.

The Suns lead never swelled above eight points, while the Thunder wrestled away a 12-point lead at the end of the contest. In Between, this tilt saw 12 ties and 16 lead changes, marking a back-and-forth road win for this young OKC Thunder roster.

The OKC Thunder now sit at 6-4 on the season, sitting fifth in the Western Conference. On Tuesday, they return home for a brief reprieve from this road stretch to take on Victor Wembanyama and the 3-7 spunky Spurs.

While the path way to get to this record after ten games was a winding road, the OKC Thunder’s young core is exactly where it needs to be. The praise contents to come for them from even outside the Thunder’s walls.
