This streak turns the OKC Thunder into a legit West contender

The win versus the Chicago Bulls extended the OKC Thunder’s winning streak to six games and allowed the team to secure their spot in the top two or at least the top four of the West standings.

Seen as one of the most competitive years of the Western Conference ever, the standings see the Thunder at number two, jockeying with the revamped Minnesota Timberwolves and the defending champion Denver Nuggets.

Right now, the Thunder is tied for the most wins in the West with the top-seeded Timberwolves while having the best net rating in the conference. They have also led the league in field goal, three-point, and free-throw percentage, shooting an insane 50/41/86 splits.

It might be too optimistic to say that these numbers will be sustained throughout the season, but who knows? The Thunder have integrated an offensive system—with great pieces and a superstar at the nucleus—that has shown its potential and could be a force in what is projected to be a competitive season for the team.

OKC Thunder is in a position to succeed. The game versus the Bulls exemplifies that. As the thanksgiving goes, the Thunder will play a tough stretch, starting against the Philadelphia 76ers. With what the league knows about OKC so far, how the team will persist after their early surge is anyone’s guess.
