This 2024-25 iteration of the OKC Thunder is truly a special collective. Through 35 games played, Oklahoma City sports the second-best record in the entire association at 30-5, ranks first in defensive and net rating, and is currently amid the longest active win streak at 15 straight.

What's more impressive is that they've managed to accomplish such feats with cornerstone pivot Chet Holmgren sidelined with a right iliac hip fracture since November 10.

Over these two months, the Thunder shockingly find themselves far surpassing merely staying afloat, as they've gone 22-3 during this 25-game stretch (best in the NBA) while boasting an elite, top-ranked 103.7 defensive rating and 12.0 net rating.

Of course, even though they may be excelling without the second-year center in tow, it's safe to say that the organization is longingly awaiting Holmgren's return to action.

Though initially it was projected that a return date would be made clear between eight to ten weeks, now entering week eight there still seems to be serious mystery regarding his timeline.

However, recently Holmgren posted a story to his personal Instagram account that, though may not pinpoint any exact time frame, suggests that a return to action could be near.

In turn, it appears Thunder fans are now brimming with excitement as a result.

In response, fans were quick to flock to social media, with many dropping reactionary comments highlighting their thoughts and overall excitement.

This post by Holmgren also came on the same day that it was revealed the big man was traveling with the Thunder during their four-game East Coast road trip and that he was even seen going through on-court movement drills during Wednesday's shootaround.

Prior to injury earlier in the season, Holmgren found himself off to an electrifying start to his sophomore campaign.

In nine full games played the big man was posting career-best averages of 18.2 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks per game while shooting a highly efficient 51.9 percent from the floor and 40.0 percent shooting from distance. Throughout this span, the Thunder went 8-1.

Adding this type of production and overall impact to this surging OKC squad is something that fans, pundits, and team personnel can't wait to see. Of course, as even Chet Holmgren urged in a previously posted story on Instagram from the day before, practicing patience during these final weeks of recovery will be key.
