Monday night's epic win over the Nuggets saw OKC Thunder superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander further establish himself as an undisputed all-time great.

From tying Wilt Chamberlain's long-standing record for most consecutive 20-point games at 126 and hitting the game-winning triple with three seconds left in regulation, to joining LeBron James as the only two players since 1978 to register 35 points, 15 assists, and zero turnovers in a game, the point guard was simply on another level against Denver.

For the vast majority of the campaign, it's already been well understood that the overwhelming opinion around the league is that Gilgeous-Alexander will likely become just the 15 back-to-back MVP winner.

However, following his latest display of heroics, co-star Jalen Williams believes the 27-year-old put any and all doubts about his candidacy to rest, as he dropped a point-blank, post-game post on X (formerly Twitter) on the matter.

Thunder star continues to thrust himself into all-time stratosphere

The links between Gilgeous-Alexander and the legends that came before him have been quite consistent over these last several years.

With his showing against the Nuggets, more have only surfaced.

According to Keerthika Uthayakumar of StatKeeks, the Thunder cornerstone is currently on pace to be the first player to have four-straight 30-point-per-game seasons since Michael Jordan, to have the second-highest true shooting percentage in a 30.0-plus point-per-game season, behind only Stephen Curry, and to lead the league in 30-point games for the fourth time, with only Chamberlain and MJ having more.

Add all this to the fact that he's also closing in on becoming just the third player ever to wrap up a season scoring 30.0 or more points a game on 50.0 percent shooting from the field (31.7 points-per-game on 55.1 percent shooting), and it's undeniable that, at worst, he's having one of the greatest seasons ever and, at best, he's turning into one of the greatest players ever.

Nikola Jokic chimes in on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander tying Wilt

Following the contest, fellow MVP candidate Nikola Jokic shared his thoughts on the incredible Chamberlin-tying feat Gilgeous-Alexander accomplished during the Thunder's 129-126 win over his Nuggets.

Knowing a thing or two about posting 20-plus points himself (averaging 28.9 points this season), the superstar center suggested that people are likely not aware of just how impressive this achievement is, saying that it's difficult to score 20 "in 10 games," let alone 126.

He would cap off his take on the achievement by saying "it’s special" and that Shai's "a special player.”

With his 32 points and 13 assists, he and Gilgeous-Alexander have become only the second pair of MVPs in history to each drop at least 30 points and 10 assists in a game against each other.

The only others to do so: Russell Westbrook and Giannis Antetokounmpo back in 2021.
