On Monday night, the OKC Thunder blew out the Philadelphia 76ers in a game full of storylines.
Sixers' coach Nick Nurse, however, may have stolen the show by freaking out in the most laughable way.
Deep into the second quarter, Nurse was seen screaming on the sidelines, "They're not perfect! They foul, too!"
His tantrum comes on the heels of an ongoing trend in which both players and coaches have complained about OKC's perceived unfair whistles during games.
Unfortunately for the veteran coach, the final box score only proved how delusional his comments were.
The Thunder shot 10 free throws to Philly's nine, and they were actually called for more personal fouls than the Sixers were. Notorious "free-throw merchant" Shai Gilgeous-Alexander finished with just three attempts from the line, while Jalen Williams attempted two in his return.
Even more comical, the Sixers converted just four of their nine attempts.
Thunder slander is getting even more out of hand
Nurse can officially be added to the growing list of NBA players and coaches who have voiced their concerns over the officiating when playing the Thunder. The list includes the likes of Steve Kerr, Mike Brown, Chris Finch, Jaylen Brown, just to name a few.
Since Shai's return from injury on February 27th, the Thunder are just 22nd in the league in free-throw attempts per game. SGA, personally, is 11th.
Of the 10 names in front of him, only three have shot at a higher volume.
The narrative looks awfully different from the story the numbers tell about officiating. In fact, given the rate at which SGA drives the ball to the basket, it actually appears the Thunder could be at an officiating disadvantage in terms of how often they are drawing fouls.
Nevertheless, social media has been filled with nightly soundbites and remarks about the issue, and no one in the league has said or done anything about it.
Officials could potentially be reacting to these comments, which is resulting in what appears to be the pendulum swinging too far the other way.
With the Thunder approaching the toughest part of its schedule, it could prove a poor time to see this team lose out on valuable foul calls, especially with the San Antonio Spurs just three games behind them for first place in the Western Conference.
Despite the actual free-throw disparity between OKC and its opponents, coach Mark Daigneault's squad seems undeterred, as they are now winners of their last 12 games, and they continue to get healthier approaching the playoffs.
