The 2025-26 NBA season only just came underway this past Tuesday, yet OKC Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has already etched himself into yet another elite conversation with one of the game's all-time bests.

In Oklahoma City's epic 125-124 opening night win over the Houston Rockets, the point guard wrapped up his 47 minutes of action with an impressive stat line of 35 points, five rebounds, five assists, two steals, and two blocks on 46.2 percent shooting from the floor.

While some may be starstruck by the reigning MVP's performance right out of the gates, to Thunder fans, this is merely just another day at the office for SGA.

In fact, when it comes to his scoring production on the night, these kinds of numbers have become so frequent that he's now second to only Wilt Chamberlain in consecutive regular-season games with 25 or more points dropped.

OKC Thunder star trails only Wilt Chamberlain in ridiculous scoring feat

Last season, the Thunder star led all NBA players in both points per game averages and total points with 32.7 and 2,484, respectively.

Considering this, along with the fact that he saw less than 25 points scored on just eight occasions during the 2024-25 campaign, it shouldn't come as a surprise that he's now dropped at least 25 in 36 straight outings.

As noted, the only player ahead of him when it comes to such a stretch is Chamberlain.

Though seeing just one man to beat may make it seem like claiming the top spot could one day be attainable, considering his streak spans well over 100 games, including his 50.4-point-per-game season back in 1961-62, one shouldn't expect the record to be broken any time soon.

Nevertheless, placing number two is still quite an accomplishment, and, with 81 games left on the docket, the Thunder star will have plenty of time to further distance himself from the rest of the pack.

With the ongoing injury recovery of co-star Jalen Williams following offseason wrist surgery, many expect Shai to take on even more of a commanding role in the scoring department this year, at least during these early stages.

As a result, Bleacher Report's Andy Bailey is predicting that we'll be seeing new career-high averages from the perennial All-Star.

With every passing day, Gilgeous-Alexander's lore only seems to grow more and more exclusive. This ongoing scoring stretch is merely just another example of an ever-growing list of accomplishments.
