This Oklahoma City Thunder team has regularly drawn comparisons to other elite squads from years past, particularly their 2011-12 iteration, which last advanced to the championship round.

However, time and time again, they remind the masses that they're not just repeating history—they're remaking it.

Such a sentiment has never rung more true than during Wednesday's Game 5 beatdown win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, where this consistent record-breaking ball club once again etched their name into the game's all-time registry.

Thunder set all-time record for most double-digit wins in a single season

With their commanding 124-94 series-clinching victory over the Timberwolves, Oklahoma City officially added its 61 double-digit win of the 2024-25 campaign (includes both regular season and playoffs).

As a result, they have now surpassed the 2016-17 Golden State Warriors for the most ever recorded in a single season. Led by the likes of Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and Klay Thompson, this Dubs team went on to win that year's NBA Championship and is widely regarded as one of the most elite collections of talent in NBA history.

Now, the 2024-25 Thunder have eclipsed such a storied club, and they did so in quite a remarkable fashion. On top of their 61 total double-digit wins, OKC also managed to set a few other specific records that further illustrate their dominance throughout their astonishingly deep journey.

With their win on Wednesday, they have now registered the most playoff wins by 30 or more points (four), while superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (34 points, 8 assists, 7 rebounds, 2 steals) tied the likes of Michael Jordan and Amare Stoudemire for the most consecutive 30+ point games in a single postseason (seven).

On top of all this, with their 65-32 lead following a lights-out first two quarters, the Thunder also became the first team in league history to hold a 30-point halftime edge on three separate occasions in the same postseason.

Even before their series-clinching blowout in Game 5, Oklahoma City was widely considered the best all-around team in the association, with Charles Barkley going as far as to say he's willing to bet "any amount of money" that they'll come away with this year's Larry O'Brien Trophy.

Now, as a result of their bludgeoning of the Timberwolves in Wednesday's showdown, they've only further strengthened this former stance with their slew of history-setting feats and are now seemingly just four wins away from having the NBA Hall of Famer cash in on some lucrative wagers.
