Following his Herculean performance against the Nuggets Monday night, OKC Thunder cornerstone Shai Gilgeous-Alexander dropped one of the coldest lines of all time, saying, "I have answers to the test, but I gotta see the questions first."

This is a direct reference to his successful approach to navigating opposing defenses, an ability he put on full display in the closing seconds of regulation against Denver, where he splashed home a step-back triple to give Oklahoma City a 129-126 win.

Throughout his tenure in the Sooner State, SGA has seemingly leveled up his play with every passing season. Year seven is shaping up to be his best yet, and a major reason for this is that he has finally answered the biggest question mark surrounding his game: long-range shooting consistency.

Thunder star is proving he's a lights-out sniper from beyond the arc

It's been well understood for the bulk of his career that Gilgeous-Alexander is an elite point-dropper.

From his four straight years averaging north of 30.0 points per game to shooting over 47.0 percent from the field overall in all but one season, there's never been any doubt about the point guard's ability to buy a bucket.

What has been brought into question throughout his stint in the pros, however, is his dependability as a deep-ball shooter, an area of play he's shot in the 35.0 percent range or lower in roughly half of his seasons.

Here in 2025-26, however, it seems he's resoundingly putting these concerns to rest -- and is doing so in epic fashion.

Through 54 games played, Gilgeous-Alexander is knocking down shots from beyond the arc at a 38.3 percent clip, the second-best mark of his career.

What's most exciting about this tremendous production is that it's directly impacted his play down the stretch of games for the better, as his 12 three-pointers made in clutch time (final five minutes of the fourth quarter or in overtime where the score is within five points) are the total that he hit over the previous two seasons combined.

Heck, he's hit three in the last week alone, which is more than superstars like Kawhi Leonard, LeBron James, and Karl-Anthony Towns have hit all year.

At this point, with a lights-out shooting stroke now in his arsenal, there should be no doubts about Gilgeous-Alexander being considered one of the most unstoppable offensive talents in the game today.

Frankly, it's no wonder people believe he could become the second unanimous MVP come year's end.
