With every passing day, it seems that OKC Thunder superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander finds himself breaking yet another NBA record.

From his electrifying 20-point streak to spearheading the charge in Oklahoma City's three-straight games won by 35 or more points, simply put, the point guard is history in the making.

Wednesday night, he managed to add one more impressive all-time feat to his resume, as his 20 points on 9-for-17 shooting from the field during OKC's 128-110 win over the Clippers marked his 15-straight game where he's scored at least 20 points and shot above 50.0 percent from the floor.

Prior to the contest, the record was 14, which was set by the legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar back during the 1979-80 season.

Thunder star continues to strengthen MVP case by surpassing Kareem

Over the last few months, it seems the MVP race has tightened up exponentially, with top candidates like Victor Wembanyama even vocalizing their cases to take home the illustrious honor. In a surprise turn of events, such an act has narrowed the gap in competition for the illustrious honor.

In response, Gilgeous-Alexander has opted to stay silent and, instead, allow his game to do all the talking.

Frankly, the results have been astonishing.

As if he didn't already have the strongest argument for claiming his second straight MVP award, over his last 19 games played SGA has found himself dropping sensational averages of 29.4 points, 7.1 assists, 3.9 rebounds, 1.6 steals, and just shy of a block on 55.2 percent shooting from the floor and 37.3 percent shooting from deep while sitting out seven total fourth quarters along the way.

Most important of all, however, is the fact that the Thunder have lost just once during this stretch.

With his elite, two-way efforts that have him ranked second in the league in points per game (31.1), third among guards in field goal percentage (55.3), and first in plus-minus (11.6), Shai has been the driving force in Oklahoma City's historic title defense tour, as they recently became the third team this century to secure three-straight seasons with the best record in the league.

Considering his dominance, it's no wonder that the Thunder are viewed as the favorites to run it back as NBA Champions here in 2025-26, while Gilgeous-Alexander, despite the rising threats around him, is still seen as the favorite to win his second Michael Jordan Trophy.

Surpassing Kareem serves as another reminder of just how special the 27-year-old has been this season.
