This statistic is wild!

In virtually every facet of the game, the OKC Thunder have proven to be absolutely dominant.

From their top-10 scoring punch (115.5 points per game) to their number-one defensive rating (103.2), Oklahoma City is unquestionably in the conversation of being considered the league's most well-rounded ball club in 2024-25.

However, arguably their most impressive skill set being put forth on a nightly basis is their abilities in the steal-to-turnover department, which was once again put on full display Thursday against Toronto.

Thunder exceptional at snagging steals while holding onto the rock

In OKC's 129-92 route over the cellar dweller Raptors, the Thunder managed to force the tankathon squad into an eye-popping 20 turnovers, 15 of which came in the form of steals.

What's more impressive is the fact that they, themselves, only committed six turnovers during their 48 minutes of action.

This has been an ongoing theme throughout the first quarter of play in the 2024-25 season, as Oklahoma City finds itself averaging more steals per game (12.0) than turnovers (11.3), while simultaneously forcing their opponents into 19.3 turnovers a night.

All three marks rank in at number one in the association.

To put all this into perspective, the Thunder are officially the only team since the merger back in 1976 to have a plus differential in these statistical categories 22 games into the season.

From an individual standpoint, three players, in particular, are having a significant impact in this area of the game, as Jalen Williams (2.0), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (1.8), and Cason Wallace (1.7) all rank within the top 20 in steals per game this year.

Now, while these feats are certainly impressive and noteworthy on their own, it's what the Thunder end up doing with these opportunities that really separate them from the rest of the rest of the pack.

Oklahoma City has found their elite defense translating directly into efficient offense, as they average a whopping 22.1 points off of turnovers, which ranks first in the league and accounts for just over 19.0 percent of their total points accumulated thus far into the campaign.

Against Toronto, they accumulated a staggering 28 points off of turnovers which, though awe-inspiring, trumps in comparison to their ridiculous 45 points scored in such scenarios during their previous contest against the Utah Jazz earlier in the week.

Coming into the season, many pegged this Thunder team as having the potential to be the greatest defensive unit of all time. With metrics such as these, it only further improves their chances of being considered as such.
