The OKC Thunder currently boast the best record in the Western Conference at 50-11, roster two All-Stars in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams, and are seen as the odds-on favorite to win the 2025 NBA Finals.

However, what's most impressive about this squad is the fact that they've managed to accomplish these feats all while having entered the season as the youngest team in the league at an average age of 24.148

As of March 5, Oklahoma City regularly rolls out a primary starting lineup at an average age of 24.4 while only two of the 12 players who have played a minimum of 450 minutes this year register in at above 26.

Yet, of all the metrics that highlight just how impressive this youthful Thunder team is, recently sideline reporter Nick Gallo shared a "wild stat" on his personal X account that only further separates this team in the all-time history books.

'Wild stat' summarizes just how impressive this Thunder team is

Per his findings, 92.9 percent of the Thunder's total points scored have been directly generated by players 26 years of age or younger, making this " by far" the highest percentage recorded by any club in NBA history with a winning percentage of .800 or better.

The three closest teams to them:

* 2008-09 Cleveland Cavaliers (79.6 percent)
* 1970-71 Milwaukee Bucks (61.7 percent)
* 2014-15 Golden State Warriors (60.0 percent)

As of this writing, the five top scorers on the Thunder from a totals perspective are Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (26), Jalen Williams (23), Aaron Wiggins (26), Luguentz Dort (25), and Isaiah Joe (25), respectively.

The exciting thing about the Thunder being grouped into the top four in such a statistical category with these specific teams is that two of them would go on to win an NBA Championship that very year, while all three advanced to the Conference Finals.

If they were to follow the same path of both the Bucks and Dubs (the two that won titles), they would become the youngest team in league history to claim the Larry O'Brien Trophy with an average age of 24.17, narrowly edging out the current holders of this particular record in the 1976-77 Portland Trail Blazers (24.199).

Amid a season filled to the brim with potential record-setting accomplishments, Gallo has unearthed yet another impressive factoid that only further strengthens just how special this Thunder team is.

With their serious title aspirations, hopefully it won't be the last.
